Find out why Greg Landry homeschool science courses make teaching high school science easier and more enjoyable for you and your student.
When it comes to homeschooling high school, even the most confident homeschool parent shudders a bit at the thought of how and what to teach their high schooler.
Especially when it comes to homeschooling high school science.
Luckily you don’t have to worry when you use Greg Landry’s homeschool science courses.

When I started homeschooling, science was one subject that I wasn’t overly confident teaching. Luckily my husband was a science major and loves science, so he took over teaching science to our kids.
However, as the kids got older, it became more difficult to work science around my husband’s schedule. So I started taking on more and more of the teaching. It started getting easier and, dare I say, more enjoyable.
Then some of the kids moved up into junior high science. I realized that before I knew it, high school science would be on the horizon. How in the world was I going to do high school science labs with my kids? Especially with my squeamish kids who shudder at the thought of dissection.
What Are Greg Landry Homeschool Science Courses?
I’m so thankful that I found Greg Landry’s homeschool science courses through College Prep Science. Many of his online courses are designed for junior high and high school students, with a few classes available for children in 4th-7th grades. You’ll find both live and self-paced courses, including some condensed classes over the summer.
We’ve been fortunate enough to take three courses from College Prep Science. We were introduced to Greg Landry’s homeschool science courses through his Young Scientist Physical Science course that two of my boys enjoyed in grades 5 and 7. Then my high school daughter took an ACT bootcamp class during her summer break. She now feels very confident that she’ll do well when she takes the ACT test this year. Finally, my oldest son experienced an interactive virtual science lab for Biology/Anatomy & Physiology. He’s my squeamish son, so he was thrilled that all of the dissections are virtual!
5 Reasons to Love Using Greg Landry Homeschool Science Courses
Since we’ve had the opportunity to experience a good variety of the courses offered through College Prep Science, I’d love to share my top five reasons why I love these courses with you. If you have children in grades 4-12 and you are looking for a quality science course, I highly recommend checking out College Prep Science.
1. Easy-to-Use Courses Taught by a Knowledgeable Science Teacher
All of the courses offered through College Prep Science are on Canvas. The classes are easy to access and all of the links you need are together on the course’s homepage. My children can easily log in and access their video lesson, lab, or assignments.
Because Greg Landry has over twenty years of teaching experience, I love that I can trust that the kids are learning what they need to know in these courses. You can feel confident marking these courses on your high schooler’s transcript. As I mentioned above, science has not been my favorite homeschool subject to teach. I’ve found that the right online class makes my job as homeschool teacher so much easier. It’s nice that I can rest assured that my children are getting a quality science education.
2. Great Support and Guidance
I’ve been impressed with the support and guidance given by the instructor, Greg Landry. He’s very encouraging in his video lessons. I can tell he really cares about teaching. Additionally, it’s very easy to contact him with questions and he responds quickly. The assignments my daughter had for the ACT Bootcamp class were always graded in a timely manner as well.
3. Lots of Choices of Engaging Classes
All of my kids that have taken Greg Landry’s homeschool science classes have enjoyed them. The classes are long enough to present the information well, but short enough to keep attention spans from fading. My boys are visual learners and they really liked the charts and illustrations shown during the lessons.
Along with that, I really like all of the course options available. College Prep Science offers several classes for 4th-7th graders, many choices for junior high and high school science including virtual labs, an ACT prep class, and now even math is offered. Your children can enjoy consistency when they take classes from Greg Landry.
4. Virtual Science Lab Option
I absolutely love that Greg Landry offers a virtual science lab option with his homeschool science courses. My oldest son is not very fond of aspects of science like dissection. One year my husband dissected a cow’s eye with the kids. I still remember the look of horror on my oldest son’s face when he had to get anywhere near it. He was thrilled that he could take a virtual lab that counts for science credit.
Virtual labs are also great for parents who don’t feel confident teaching a high school science lab. Not every family has the option to do a science lab in a homeschool co-op setting. Taking a virtual lab from College Prep Science is a great alternative. Your child gets an interactive lab experience, but you don’t have to buy any dissecting tools, beakers, or chemicals.
5. Note-taking and Organization Focus
One final part of Greg Landry’s homeschool science classes that I love is the focus on note-taking and organization. Time is spent at the beginning of the courses teaching students how to stay organized so they can do well in the class. For example, in the virtual lab, my son had to fill out a lab report after each lab. An example lab report was available for kids to use as an example for setting up their own report. I appreciate that kids are not just taught the science information for the class, but that they are also taught important organization and study skills they need to do well in their classes.
When it comes to homeschool science, especially in the upper grades, many parents don’t feel confident or have the time to teach the class themselves. Using an online science course is a great alternative to help parents know their children are learning what they need to know. Greg Landry’s homeschool science courses offer parents of children in grades 4-12 fun, interactive classes taught by a knowledgeable instructor. Online science courses are a great choice to help simplify your homeschool day and allow your student more flexibility in their learning.
