Using homeschool classes online can help simplify your day as the homeschool teacher, especially if you have a larger family, little ones, or work from home. They are especially helpful for subjects you don’t feel as confident teaching.
Greg Landry’s College Prep Science offers homeschool science classes online. You can choose from live or self-paced classes. He offers classes in several different science topics, including biology, chemistry, and physics for grades 4-12.
The live classes are great for high school students who would like to have grades on a transcript from someone other than the homeschool parent. Although homeschool parents grade the self-paced classes, they can still email Greg Landry with questions. Even though the labs are online, students still get to interact and be involved in the lab process. In these virtual labs, students are given directions and use their mouse and keyboard to follow them. They are instructed to complete lab reports on the lab process they followed. Plus, since everything is online, there’s no need to purchase separate lab materials. This is beneficial to parents who don’t like the idea of dissecting frogs or mixing chemicals at the kitchen table!
Brand New Homeschool Science Textbooks for All Students
In addition to the online classes and labs, new this year is the option to purchase science textbooks. Four of the textbooks are intended for high school, with one option for middle school. These books are written in a conversation-style by Greg Landry himself. They are especially designed for students who struggle with science and/or math.
The books include end-of-chapter study guides and exams with answer keys, which make grading easy. We plan to use the books this year with the online, interactive science labs. Students earn a full year of science with lab credit to add to high school transcripts.
Homeschool ACT Prep
In addition to the engaging homeschool science curriculum offered through College Prep Science, students can also take a homeschool ACT Prep Bootcamp. This includes classes and practice tests to prepare students who are planning to take the ACT. The classes include strategies and techniques for test-taking. Students earn a semester of credit for college study skills and test-taking when they complete this course.
